MuseumEdit

An information board in the aquarium will provide information about this fish.

"People assume squids have legs, but those are actually arms. There are 10 in all; two are used to grab prey. To swim, they twist their fins and expel water from inside their bodies to allow for fluid motion. The ink they shoot when threatened forms into the shape of a squid, acting as a sort of body double."

In real lifeEdit

The European Squid can be found in the Eastern Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea and they are most abundant at depths of 20 to 250 meters. They have a maximum weight of 1.5 kilograms and a size of 42 centimeters mantle length. Growth in both sexes is temperature dependant and is therefore faster in summer than in winter; the males grow faster than females. European Squid prey on fish and crustaceans. Cannibalism is common.
