Porter is a monkey that works in the Train Station. He has appeared in Animal Forest and Animal Crossing, then made a reappearance in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, due to the train station reappearing in place of the gate. The player must talk to him in order to open their gates, or to visit someone else's town via Wi-Fi or local connection.

- Porter most likely gets his name from porters in train stations, whose job are to carry passengers' luggage around.
- There is a theory that Porter was the villager Champ in Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk. Evidence that supports this theory is that both characters are monkeys, and share almost the same appearance, apart from their clothing. Champ's default catchphrase is also "choo choo", and Champ does not appear in Animal Crossing or New Leaf, but Porter does. However, Porter's birthday is April 17 and Champ's is June 4, proving this to possibly be false.
